Tip: It is worth-while to take a stopover on another island or in another country ( for example Seychelles or Johannesburg) since extra charges for this are only low.

On tour in Mauritius:
Taxi: negotiate the price before the journey / you can obtain the approximate price in the hotels.

Bus: the most original way to travel across the country. Economical but very slow. The big bus stations are in Mahébourg, Port Louis and Curepipe. Attention: after 6.00 p.m. only limited or no service on some bus routes. Ask for the time of the last departure.

Car rental: you need a passport and an international driving-licence. Minimum age: 23 years. It's important to have a road map with you. Attention: in Mauritius people drive on the left!
The car hiring services offer a wide range of modern cars. Since there could be narrow passes during the peak season, we advise you to reserve your vehicle on time
