The Tamil temple Shri Sockalingum Meenatchee Ammen is one of the most beautiful attractions in Mauritius. Located in the middle of a lovely garden complex before a backdrop of lush green mountains, the colors of the temple shine brightly in the sun. The buildings are richly decorated with sacred figures.
The temple was built around 1854 according to the rules of Dravidian architecture for sacred buildings. The temple complex was built in the shape of a human body, with the main parts of the complex representing the heart and the brain.
