Geography of Mauritius Landscapes of Mauritius Volcanos and mountains

Mauritius is of volcanic origin as are the highest peaks of the island.
The highest mountains on Mauritius are the 905 yards (828 m) Piton de la Rivière Noire, the 900 yards (823 m ) Pieter Both and the 888 yards (812 m) Le Pouce.
The Trou aux Cerfs crater at Curpipe is also worth a visit. Firstly because the crater is easy to see and also because you get a good view of the mountains of Mauritius from here on a clear day.
